2018 Winter Yak Tribe Final Results

The month long Yak Tribe tournament is over and the final results have been posted. After being in contention to win right up until the final week, I crashed and burned in the final days. I ended up finishing in 5th place with 215 total inches. While finishing 5th out of 73 people isn't bad, I have to admit I was disappointed that I didn't do better.

Going into the final week, I was sitting in second place and had three days to fish. I decided to focus on small fish and try to improve on my slot fish score. The bites were plentiful but finding fish in the 22-24" range was impossible. It just wasn't meant to be. In the end, I wasn't able to improve my score at all in the final days.

While dropping from 2nd to 5th in the final few days was bad enough, the biggest kick to the gut was the fact I missed out on 4th place by a half inch. Earlier in the tournament, I caught a 42 inch blue but was only able to count it as 41 inches due to the pictures being blurry. That deduction was ultimately what knocked me out of 4th place and cost me several prizes in the process.

Overall though, I had a lot of fun getting out there and competing in this tournament. Anytime you can get paid just to go fishing is a good time and ultimately, that is what happened in this tournament. My 5th place finish won me all the prizes listed above. Thank you to everyone who followed along with me as I fished in this event. I appreciate all the well wishes and support.
